What do you think of when we say FEBRUARY??
It reminds me that it is the winter month, the cold, but also that it is the shortest month and that spring is coming soon. As soon as January is over, I start to feel better, the days are longer and my mood is more cheerful. But above all, definitively, for me it is the month of lovers, Valentine's Day, which is celebrated on February 14.
Valentine's Day is celebrated all over the world and that day is known for showing love and attention to loved ones.
If you didn't know, there are several theories and legends about how Valentine's Day came to be celebrated.
The most famous explanation is related to a saint named Valentin who opposed the then emperor Kaludi II, who forbade young people to marry each other, believing that unmarried men are better warriors. Valetnin married them secretly and when they discovered him, he was executed on February 14.
Another version says that he sent a message to his guard from prison and signed it with "Your Valentine".
Another theory says that it came from the Roman festival of Lupercalia, which took place in mid-February and was dedicated to fertility and protection from evil forces. During the festival, young men drew girls' names from boxes to find their chosen one during the festival.
Whichever theory is correct, it is obvious that it is about love, care for loved ones, respect for everyone dear to us.
What else does February associate me with? Certainly also the color red in all its shades, which we will see everywhere around us. Red color symbolizes passion, love, romance and energy. In Asian cultures, red symbolizes happiness, joy and prosperity and that is why we find it in their homes, and here in the west we also reach for their beliefs when we want prosperity and happiness. They say that it is best to have a red wallet and it will never be empty.
But in the month of lovers and loved ones, there is no better color than red, which would associate us with love and attention to others.
Colors definitely have the power to express meaning, convey emotion and create a unique atmosphere.
So, in glass fusion, I even unconsciously use colors that express my mood at that moment.
In this month of love, it is red, which is also my favorite color. I am simply always attracted to that strong color that gives each of my works a special accent that unintentionally stands out in every space. It simply radiates, at least for me.
February is also the month of giving gifts for lovers, even if it's just a card with a heart and the signature "Your Valentine". Attention is important, so that someone knows that we appreciate him, love him and that we need him.
That's why if you still don't know what to present to your girlfriends, boyfriends, moms, aunts, sisters, friends, Amalgam glass definitely offers a choice for everyone. From jewelry to home decor to glass paintings. If you haven't found what you like, we can always make something to order or by agreement.
In addition, you can always give a glass fusion workshop as a gift, where you will awaken creativity in someone that they did not know about, and they will have great fun and learn something. And in the month of February, we do something red to mark both the month of love and the month of all shades of red.
Write to me, what does February remind you of? And which color do you like the most and why? How do you plan to spend Valentine's Day?
